Kuina Books 水鶏書房 is an independent publisher and curated online book store based in Münster, shaped by a deep commitment to language, design, and intercultural dialogue. We create and sell books for people who feel most at home while moving—across borders, between cultures and languages, or within themselves. Our name comes from the Yanbaru Kuina, a flightless bird native to the Ryūkyū Islands. Its strong legs, built for steady movement rather than flight, reflect how we think about communication and identity: motion is only possible with a strong foundation. In the same way, language underpins everything we make—it’s the ground we stand on and the space we move through. Every book is the result of a careful, deliberate process.
